Qantas Shares Soar As Alan Joyce Attacked

Alan Joyce Pie Attack (2)Qantas CEO Alan Joyce copped a pie in the face yesterday but had the last laugh as his company's shares soared to a nine-year high on the ASX, reaching $4.73 after last week's update,  in which he forecast underlying profit before tax of between $1.35bn and $1.4bn.

Meanwhile, Joyce was attacked while speaking at a Leadership Matters breakfast in Perth in  what's believed to be a protest against his marriage equality advocacy. Joyce received a standing ovation after cleaning himself up and returning to the podium.

His attacker is Tony Overheu, described by The Australia as "a one-time Nationals candidate and a senior member of the Church of Christ in the southern Perth suburb of Willetton."
