Tiger Delays Aircraft, Fails to Lodge Accounts

By Martin Kelly, Editor, Travel Trends

MORE contradictions from Tiger Airways … yesterday Chief Operating Officer Steve Burns told Travel Today that Tiger is pressing ahead with expansion plans and will meet with various Australian airports to outline their intentions next week. Burns added that Tiger wants increased capacity on its current Australian routes and is also looking at fresh international destinations.

Yet today the Sydney Morning Herald reports that Tiger has delayed delivery of two new A319s until January, and is considering doing the same with an A320. All these aircraft were scheduled for November, in time for peak holiday season. Meanwhile, back at head office, Tiger has once again missed a key deadline and failed to lodge its annual accounts, which are now more than three months overdue. Travel Trends: October 14, 2008
