More than one in four of Expedia’s global bookings came through a mobile screen in the first three months of 2015 – and half of those were made within 48 hours of stay, says the company.
Other key findings from an Expedia/Hotels.com global survey of user trends include:
- More than 50% of bookings in Australia and New Zealand are made over the weekend – presenting a good marketing window for hoteliers.
- Singapore at 190%+ is the fastest growing mobile market for Australian hotel bookings, follow by North Korea and Japan.
- In New Zealand, Chinese travellers are lighting up the net with mobile bookings surging 300%+ year on year.
- Regional mobile growth was fastest in Australia , up 90+%, ahead of NZ, where the growth in mobile bookings for domestic hotels was 70%.
