Forget about the Qantas pyjamas. There’s a new aviation status symbol in the front end of the plane at 36,000 feet.

And it’s called a #snood.

In a sign of the times, and precursor of what’s to come, Etihad has launched a ‘luxury’ face mask (dubbed a snood) for its business and first class passengers.

What they’ll get is extra protection, claims Etihad, with the snood protected by the impressive sounding “MicrobeBARRIER™, a broad spectrum antimicrobial treatment, laboratory tested and proven to reduce the presence of germs in fabrics”.

Etihad is also proving economy passengers with standard face masks in its ammentys kits.

Meanwhile, Etihad is gradually resuming services to more destinations across its global network following the easing of travel restrictions by UAE regulatory authorities.

“Throughout August and September, subject to the lifting of international restrictions and the re-opening of individual markets, the airline aims to fly to 61 destinations worldwide from its Abu Dhabi hub, operating approximately 50 per cent of its pre-COVID capacity.”
