TripAdvisor says airlines have embraced its new Flight Reviews in a way that hotels never did when the company first launched. But then the world has changed a lot since then – reviews are now part of the travel landscape and a vital marketing tool for the industry.
“The reaction has been very, very positive,” says Andrew Wong, Head of Airline Review Partnerships, TripAdvisor Global Flights Business (pictured).
“Airlines are really embracing it – they see more reviews as being in their interests.”
He says 16 airlines are now working closely with TripAdvisor on review collection and posting using post trip emails and social media to generate reviews.
So far the airline reviews are skewing positive, averaging 3.5 out of 5. TripAdvisor has also launched Flyscore, which ranks specific flight experience out of 10.
