Helloworld shares surged almost 30% today after it was revealed Sintack, a company associated with the Alysandratos family, bought 30.8m shares from UBS Australia for $12m, or 39 cents a share.
The acquisition takes Sintack’s stake in Helloworld from 12.3% to 19.3%. UBS Australia now holds 10.9% of the retailer.
The purchase price was a 41% premium to the volume weighted average price for the five days on which HLO shares traded before 18 February.
The Alysandratos family, headed by patriarch Spiros, also owns Consolidated Travel and 50% of the Express Travel Group.
