Amadeus, IHG Partner on ‘Revolutionary’ Reservations System

Amadeus and InterContinental Hotels Group will collaborate on the development of a community, cloud-based Guest Reservation System (GRS) that they claim will “revolutionise the technological foundations of the global hospitality industry”.

It will be based on Amadeus’ Altea aviation platform, which handles reservations, inventory and departure control for numerous high-profile airlines.

“As launch partner, IHG will work with Amadeus on the design, functionality and evolution of the system,” the company said.

“The community model is a highly innovative and cost-effective approach for IHG and the hospitality industry with Amadeus taking responsibility for funding and maintaining the system and each member paying for usage on a transaction fee basis.”

The new system is due to be in operation by 2017 and will replace HOLIDEX, IHG’s proprietary reservations system.
