Travel Daily reports that US carrier American Airlines will charge agents who book its flights through the Galileo GDS a surcharge of US$11.75 per segment after December 20. The new levy applies in all markets except Japan and the USA. According to the carrier, the Galileo and Worldspan GDS – owned by Travelport – have “become significantly more expensive to American than all other booking platforms in the affected international markets”. Some of Australia’s leading agency groups use Galileo, including Flight Centre.
