American Express has announced it will cut 5400 jobs this year, primarily from its travel division, as the digital revolution transforms the industry. Most of the jobs lost will be those that do not generate revenue. Chief Executive Kenneth Chenault, pictured, said Amex will also invest in better online travel management and booking tools. ”One outcome of this ongoing shift to online is that we can serve a growing customer base with lower staffing levels,” Mr Chenault said.
