The number of Australians visiting Thailand slumped for the fourth consecutive month with March Australian Bureau of Statistics figures released today showing a -5.7 drop in visitors compared with the previous year.
This followed a summer of discontent when Australian visitation dropped throughout the three months of summer, culminating in a -10.3% plunge during February.
The dramatic falls come despite cheap, all-inclusive resort packages being heavily marketed by leading deal sites and travel agents.
ABS stats show declines of -6.3% in January and -3% during December.
Is this the start of a long-term trend?
