Aussie Thai Visits Continue Downward Spiral

Thailand beach and boatThe number of Australians visiting Thailand slumped for the fourth consecutive month with March Australian Bureau of Statistics figures released today showing a -5.7 drop in visitors compared with the previous year.

This followed a summer of discontent when Australian visitation dropped throughout the three months of summer, culminating in a -10.3% plunge during February.

The dramatic falls come despite cheap, all-inclusive resort packages being heavily marketed by leading deal sites and travel agents.

ABS stats show declines of -6.3% in January and -3% during December.

Is this the start of a long-term trend?
