Australia’s tit for tat aviation dog fight has moved to food with Qantas rolling out a new menu featuring greater selection, larger servings and claimed faster service on international services.
All designed of course by celebrity chef Neil Perry (pictured) who has become something of an airline mascot.
Every Qantas ad and he is there, somewhere.
Virgin has replied with a trade ad campaign highlighting its business class menu, designed by Luke Mangan, Virgin’s pet celebrity chef (every airline needs one).
Frivolity aside, it’s a change up for Qantas – for once it is giving not taking – and perhaps a sign of ways in which legacy carriers can finally start fighting back against low cost carrier incursions.
