Web in Travel Singapore is heading back to the future in a very modern way when the 15th edition of the event returns from September 28 to October 1.
The first three days of WiT Experience Week 2020 – themed “Travel Zero.O: Back To The Future” – will be 100% virtual before proceeding shift to a new ‘Hybrid Broadcast Studio’ (pictured) at Marina Bay Sands with a live audience of 50 people for the final day.
In normal times having just 50 attendees, many of them speakers, would not be a cause for rejoicing but in 2020 it is. Special permission had to be granted by local government authorities for the live event to proceed.
“We have worked closely with Singapore Tourism Board over the last few months and their guidance and support have been instrumental in getting us to this point,” said WiT founder Yeoh Siew Hoon.
“We are proud to play a leading role in the safe resumption of business events in Singapore with our partners.”
Innovation will feature throughout the event, particularly on October 1 when WiT takes over the Hybrid Broadcast Studio at Marina Bay Sands.
It looks like a condensed TV studio, highly visual, featuring broadcast-quality live-streaming capabilities and hologram functionalities.
“Audiences will be looking at immersive technology to enable them to capture their imagination to learn the content in a better and more engaging way,” says Ong Wee Min, Vice President of Conventions & Exhibitions, Marina Bay Sands.
“The response to date for our Hybrid Broadcast Studio has been extremely encouraging, demonstrating that there is a genuine need for this industry-first offering at a time when large-scale physical events are not able to take place.”
