In a finding that’s sure to provoke intense debate, analysis of thousands of hotel reviews reveals this relatively modest pool at the Plantation Hotel Phnom Penh to be the region’s best with a score of 95.
Weirdly, positions 2, 3 and 4 of the study by Wego.com and TrustYou were also occupied by properties from Cambodia, “which wasn’t quite what we were expecting,” said Joachim Holte, Chief Marketing Officer for Wego.
Vinh Hung Emerald Resort in Vietnam came in at number five, followed by the Shangri-La Hotel and Park Hotel Clarke Quay in Singapore.
“Hong Kong was represented at number eight by the Hotel ICON with its rooftop pool overlooking the harbour, and Phuket registered at nine and 15 with The Senses Resort and Hotel Twinpalms,” Mr Holte said.
“Kuala Lumpur’s Renaissance Hotel rated number ten on the list with a score of 94.
“Two properties in Bangkok, the Chatrium Hotel Riverside and Pathumwan Princess Hotel scored the number 13 and 14 spots.”
The Plantation in Phnom Penh was built in the 1930s as a French colonial admin centre.
Its aqua green slate pool is 20m long and also features the Red Pool Bar which adjoins a terrace and art gallery.
The rankings are based on pool scores from TrustYou’s Meta-Reviews.
