Car sharing business Carhood beat out six other companies to win Pitch It To Me at TRAVELtech last week.
Founders Christian Schaefer and Steve Johnson, who have been friends since high school, were convincing winners of the audience vote with an entertaining and persuasive presentation.
We couldn’t be more fortunate with the result and mostly humbly accept the audience choice award for the best start-up pitch on the day,” Christian said.
Carhood is a peer-to-peer business that rents out the cars of willing owners who park their vehicles at Melbourne and Brisbane airports with Sydney due to come online in November.
How does it work?
The car owners get a 25% cut of whatever rental fees the car generates in their absence, while they also enjoy free parking and have their cars cleaned.
Carhood wants to be national by the end of 2016 and is looking to raise $2m to $3m to facilitate the expansion.
