China and Indonesia Lead AP Hotel Building Boom

China and Indonesia lead a hotel building boom in the Asia Pacific. According to the latest STR Global research, there are 1,638 hotels totalling 375,078 rooms either actively planned or under construction in the region. Shanghai, China, ended August  with 12,721 rooms in the development pipeline followed by New Delhi, India (11,856 rooms); Bali, Indonesia (8,671 rooms); Jakarta, Indonesia (7,121 rooms); Manila, Philippines (6,438 rooms); and Beijing, China (6,134 rooms).
