Lot of talk everywhere I go – Thailand last week, for example – about China being the future of tourism. Well, for Australia, that future is now. The February ABS visitor arrivals show Chinese visitor numbers rose 30% year on year and that China is now the third biggest inbound market for Australia. No wonder hotel company Accor is implementing an “Optimum Service Standards” program to better serve Chinese with tailored menus, dedicated media, and employee training.
