The hotel bathroom used to be something hidden away as if it did not exist. But now the big hotel design trend is to open up bathrooms to the living area. Novotel is the latest hotel group to tread this path, launching its ‘Next’ room at the Novotel Bangkok Ploenchit, a concept that will be rolled out at all 400 Novotels before 2018. Accor, which owns the Novotel brand, says open plan “encourages guests to create their own spaces and atmosphere.”
And the bathroom? “It’s separated from the rest of the room by a high-tech transparent glass partition that becomes opaque at the flick of a switch”. Ah, privacy at last.
