Middle East carrier Emirates has been fined $10m by the Federal Court in Sydney for its role in an a freight price fixing cartel, bringing the total penalties levied in Australia against the airlines involved, including Qantas, to $68m. The Australian reports: “The fine comes as the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is set to start Federal Court proceedings later this month against Singapore Airlines, Air New Zealand, Cathay Pacific and Thai Airways for being part of the same system.” See full story.
