Expedia says bookings from international travellers through its  Australianwebsites increased 40% year on year in the in the 12 months ending March 2016. 

British travellers led the way with a 50% booking surge and are now Expedia’s second-biggest Australian inbound market.

However American travellers remain the most important source of international business for the Expedia websites, growing 30% over the survey period.

The New Zealand (+25%), Japan (+40%) and Hong Kong (+90%) markets also rose strongly.

Expedia says the the top 5 destinations for visitors from the US and UK are Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns, Brisbane and Perth.
