Expedia has joined Booking.com in easing its rate parity restrictions on Australian hoteliers from September 1, allowing them to offer better deals on every channel except the one that matters most – their own branded website.

Cyril Ranque, President Expedia Lodging Services, made the announcement today.

It applies to the following businesses: Expedia, Hotels.com LP, Travelscape LLC, VacationSpot SL and AAE Travel Pte.

The decision was prompted by meetings with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
