There’s been a substantial increase in Australian hotel sales through ‘traditional’ travel agents during the past 12 months, according to figures provided to by TravelCLICK, which tracks Global Distribution System revenue. In the year to August 31, GDS hotel revenue for Sydney grew 7%, Melbourne 6.5%, Perth 28.7%, Brisbane 20.5% and Adelaide 11.4%.

Meanwhile, the Pullman and Sofitel hotel brands have joined the Travelport GDS Lowest Public Rate Program, which guarantees travel agents access to the lowest publicly available rate at participating properties. Pullman and Sofitel are both part of the Accor Hotel Group. There are now 50 hotel group involved in the Travelport initiative.
