A NEW report has urged the travel industry to embrace open source software to stimulate innovation and reduce response times to change. Author Professor Jim Norton argues the Asia Pacific travel industry has been a laggard with open source –  “the technology that no one’s talking about, but which looks set to stay” – however it is now gaining momentum.

“While open systems are often seen as back-end and the preserve of technologists … some of the most disruptive brands – Google, Amazon, Twitter, Facebook – are built predominantly on open source software.” The report has been sponsored by Amadeus and is available for download at: http://www.amadeus.com/blog/17/09/open-for-business
