India will be the fastest growing major Asia Pacific travel market over the next two years for a combination of reasons including an easing of travel restrictions, investment in infrastructure, and a growing middle class, says industry research company Phocuswright.

It’s tipping a compound annual growth rate of 11% from 2013 to 2017, the same as China, which PCW believes will be the first travel market and country to have the majority of its online bookings through mobile devices.

By 2016, 53% of China’s online travel will come through mobile, PCW says.
