Lothar Pehl is Senior Vice President of Operations for Asia Pacific and Regional Vice President of Starwood Hotels in 2 of Asia most dynamic regions; north Asia (Japan, Korea and Guam) and IndoChina (Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos).
In his roles, he oversees Starwood Hotels and Resorts business interests including; strategic direction of the company, strengthening of owner and partner relationships, corporate values, brand defined standard implementation, regional talent development talent policy and future property expansion across the company’s portfolio of 9 international renowned brands.
Since late 2005, Lothar has assumed the role of Regional Vice President for Starwood Hotels and Resorts in Japan, Korea, and Guam; he simultaneously served in a variety of roles, including Managing Director of Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay Hotel and General Manager of The Westin Tokyo Hotel and Representative Director of the St. Regis Osaka.
In January 2012, Lothar has taken on the additional position of Regional Vice President of Starwood Hotels Indochina, covering Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar & Laos, preparing for further expansion in the region. In April 2012 he has further taken over the role of Senior Vice President of Operations and Global Initiatives for Starwood in Asia Pacific.
Lothar possesses over twenty five years of hospitality management experience with Starwood in Europe, the Middle East and Asia company across 10 countries. During part of this tenure, Lothar was instrumental in honing the Westin brand concept, taking on the role of Westin Hotels’ Asia Pacific Brand Representative and serving as an Advisory Board Member of Starwood’s global “Westin Brand Development” initiatives.
He also held the chair for Starwood Asia Pacific Safety and Security management from 2008 until 2012, successfully guiding our teams across a number of natural disasters in the region.
Lothar holds several degrees and diplomas relevant to his work; his most recent academic achievement includes an MBA from the University of Melbourne and several Master Certificates from Cornell University. These achievements are supported by 2 Bachelor degrees in Hotel and Hospitality Management in Frankfurt a.M. Germany
Fluent in German, French, and English; he also has a good working knowledge of Italian, Bahasa Indonesia, and Japanese.
His passion is with people who are willing to take calculated risk and contribute to the overall function of a team, creating unique hospitality experiences for customer, partners and associates alike.
