In a sure sign sales are sagging after two recent disasters, Malaysia Airlines has virtually doubled its agent commission for the next month.
Travel Daily today reported that the new rate of 11% only applies to locally-issued tickets for MAS flights originating in Australia.
“The offer is valid until 15 Sep 2014, and the increased commission level also applies to MH YQ fuel surcharge, for all issues on 232 Australian BSP ticket stock.
“The previous 6% commission level will continue to apply to tickets issued for travel originating outside Australia.
“All re-issued tickets will remain at 6%, and separately issued tickets for domestic Malaysia or KUL to SIN/BWN are non-commissionable.”
The move is not surprising and indicates that demand for Malaysia Airlines seats has been decimated by the recent shooting down of MH17 and disappearance of MH370.
