Snowboarder and snowmaking at Thredbo 250 wideForget mother nature – cost effective snow production, that’s what it’s all about. Certainly it’s a major reason the Thredbo alpine resort recorded a strong result last financial year, a pre-tax profit of $15m, up 12% over previous year.

“This result reflects another outstanding ski season which, despite lower than average snowfall, was one of the most successful on record,” said owner Event Hospitality and Entertainment.

“Skiers were able to enjoy top to bottom skiing from the opening June weekend to close of season in October due to excellent snow making conditions and cold night-time temperatures, which assisted with cost-effective snow production.”
