Margaret has developed the Views on Top iPhone travel app to provide a better way of finding destinations with scenic views in over 450 popular locations across 85 countries.
Having travelled to 35 countries, Margaret developed Views On Top in response to her frequent frustration when visiting a new place, of not knowing where to go for a good view (aside from the obvious tourist destinations), and of wanting to avoid long queues at popular attractions.
Views On Top solves these problems with a ‘Near Me’ screen that shows places nearby worth visiting for a view when you arrive somewhere new, and the ability to buy tickets to major attractions in advance, direct from the app.
Views On Top started as a hobby project and has evolved into a directory of over 750 destinations.
Ranging from free to five-star, famous to hidden gems, and lookouts to adrenalin activities, the app has over 450 towers and buildings with observation decks, panoramic and rooftop restaurants and bars, 160 mountains and parks, 100 monuments, cathedrals and bridges, and more.
Users are encouraged to suggest places to add to Views On Top and can upload photos that once approved, will appear in the app with their name on them.
Views On Top launched in May 2014 and was a Finalist in the AUS Mobile & App Design Awards 2014. It can be downloaded for free from the App Store.
Prior to developing Views On Top, Margaret’s career included CEO, corporate governance, risk and project management roles in accounting firms, finance and insurance organisations, in Sydney and London.
Margaret used her ‘executive summary’ report-writing skills to develop Views On Top, distilling just the essential information needed to help find where to go for a good view.
Margaret’s love of great views is supported by her passions for skiing, cycling and hiking. And in the last few years, Margaret is proud to have conquered a fear of heights.
