Nathan is the founder of goStandby.com.au a web site and soon smartphone app for last minute tours and travel related activities.
Nathan’s travel technology roots started 15 years ago, developing and marketing an ‘out of the box’ software solution for inbound wholesalers. In more recent years, Nathan has been a familiar face at TRAVELtech, marketing emotf.com – a rating & review data warehouse and API technology.
In his latest venture, the goStandby mission is to ‘kill off’ coupons and discount vouchers in the travel space allowing operators to maximise their yield. Nathan has identified a niche in the 24 hour window for true distressed inventory to be directly sold to travelers nearby through social media and geo location technology.
As the winners of the July 2013 Gold Coast start-up weekend, Nathan is building this new business with calibre co-founders comprising marketers, designers, developers, and legal and finance backgrounds.
Jacob Turner who started out in finance with KPMG, along with graphic designer Britney Marsden, developed and marketed their own Apps in the social media space; Justin McPherson a former developer for Nokia is the lead engineer.
Latest additions to the team are Greg Burnett, with executive experience in Coles Myer and McDonald’s; and Ian Connor a UQ law graduate with Silicon Valley start-up exits under his belt.
Nathan has his eyes on rapidly scaling the gostandby offering.
