Paul Dimmick is owner operator of Huon Bush Retreats, a small Eco-tourism village in southern Tasmania. Paul grew up in Hobart, studying as an electronics technician and commercial artist. After travelling the world for 5 years and not finding any where he liked better, he went back to Tasmania.
He and partner Michael Higgins, never wanted to be tourism operators. “We bought the land to protect it from logging and share it with the community.” Paul says. “Then we had to find a way to pay for it, so we set up Huon Bush Retreats, building 5 cabins, two tipees and a campground as well as 5km of walking tracks.”
Paul and Michael found they had created something they really enjoyed. “Now we love being tourism operators. It is always rewarding to hear guest stories about their time spent with us.”
