The evidence continues to mount that Qantas is having issues filling its flights to Los Angeles – even after cutting capacity in late April by removing three Sydney-LAX return services.
Today Qantas offered some of its Frequent Flyers a 50% status points bonus for bookings between Australia and Los Angeles made over the next week.
This follows a recent sales blitz in which Qantas has been offering SYD-LAX return fares for just $999.
The base sale price has now risen to $1031, but that’s still dirt cheap for a sector that was routinely fetching 50% or more not so long ago.
Update: Qantas has called to say this is a targetted offer not made to all its Frequent Flyer members…
Further Update: The bonus offer outlined above landed in my inbox this morning with the subject line: Fly to Los Angeles, get 50% more Status Credits. It now seems obvious I was specifically targetted because I had been looking at LA flights over the past couple of days and this was an added inducement to get me over the line.
