Hotel room rates are growing faster than a two-year-old on steroids in Australia’s east coast capital cities*, according to STR Global figures for May 2011. Brisbane leads the way with a 46.5% year-on-year increase in Average Daily Rate to US$212.34, followed by Sydney (+33.5% to US$188) and Melbourne (+30.7% to US$183). Singapore, however, remains the standout regional performer with an ADR of S$290. *Note some of the Aussie increase may be due to local currency appreciation against the US dollar.
