Symbolically, literally and perhaps even financially, Virgin Australia has now completely left its Virgin Blue budget carrier past behind.
Today the airline unveiled the final aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, the 56th aircraft to be repainted in its unified white and silver livery.
The announcement came just a few days after Virgin posted an underlying second quarter profit of AUD55.3m.
Virgin’s transformation has been in train since 2011.
“Every customer touch point has been changed in order to enhance the travelling experience, and the repainting of the last red aircraft signals the completion of the brand re-positioning,” Virgin said.
In case you were wondering, here’s a shot of the superseded Virgin Blue livery.
