Roshan Mendis will lead Sabre Travel Network in Asia Pacific. His appointment as Senior VP was announced after Sabre’s acquisition of Abacus, the Asian GDS, closed yesterday.
The Abacus business will be absorbed into STN and report through to Mendis.
Former Abacus CEO Robert Bailey has left the company.
Mendis is a Sabre veteran, working for 12 years at Travelocity.com, most recently as president of the Americas, until its sale in early 2015 to Expedia.
He has also done stints as president of Zuji, Travelocity’s Asia Pacific brand, and vice president of Travelocity Partner Network.
Abacus has 100,000 travel agent customers across 59 Asia pacific markets and is based in Singapore.
