Don’t know what to make of this but thought I’d report it anyway… Thailand has proven rich pickings for the daily deal sites scratching for travel inventory. Banyan Tree Bangkok has been right in the thick of it. In April it did a $354 three-night room-only deal through Travelzoo, moving 911 of these packages worth $322,000 in one week. Fast forward to now. Spreets, which has a 1.2m database, is marketing a three-night Banyan Tree deal with many inclusions for $520. In six days it has sold 21 packages worth $10,920. Huge gap. Why? Update 9/12: Dean McEvoy from Spreets writes: Just a clarification on Banyan Tree post we, sold 138 over 3 days – $71,760. The 21 you were seeing is probably the result from 1 day in 1 city. I would argue a customer prepared to spend almost 2 x the price for more valuable inclusions is a better quality customer. Banyan tree were happy with the result.
