Digital ad spend in Australia cracked the A$3bn barrier for the first time, increasing a robust 21% in the 12 months to June 30 to $3.133bn. The fastest growth came from Search, which is for political reasons (Google does not want its results broken out) paired with directories in survey, conducted by PWC for the the Interactive Advertising Bureau.
Search and Directories increased 30% and is now by far the biggest sector with 52% of spend.
General Display spend increased 15% while Classifieds grew 11% over the year. There’s some evidence emerging that General Display advertising is under pressure with a slight decline of 1% in the six months to June 30 when compared with the previous six months.
