Strong Half Year Profit for Webjet

MELBOURNE – Webjet today announced a net profit after tax of $5.9 million for the six months to 31 December 2011. With Total Transaction Value reaching $369 million and resulting in 16 consecutive half years of growth, the announcement sees a profit increase of 17 percent over the previous year.
“Experiencing growth of approximately 29 percent on last year has seen Webjet massively outperform the general travel market in Australia and New Zealand by a factor of at least four times,” said Managing Director, John Guscic.
“International and domestic flight travel has been the key driver of our success, up 41 percent and 16 percent respectively on last year. Furthermore, the Total Transaction Value of our hotel business, launched in October 2011, has increased on an annualised rate by over 100 percent in the last six months to $25 million,” said Guscic.
“Looking further ahead in 2012, Webjet will focus three key action areas; to ensure the ongoing success of our hotel business; to continue outpacing the market on international flight travel, and finally to maintain dominance in the Australian domestic market,” he said.

Online retailer Webjet has announced an after tax profit $5.9 million for the six months to 31 December 2011, a 17% increase over the previous year. “International and domestic flight travel has been the key driver, up 41% and 16% respectively,” said MD John Guscic.
