Mobile is set to be the dominant platform for TripAdvisor with the company reporting that half its traffic now comes from smartphones and tablet users.
While revealing TripAdvisor’s June quarter results, President and CEO Steve Kaufer said that mobile accounts for almost 140 million of TripAdvisor’s average 280 million monthly unique visits.
He said downloads of the the company’s apps grew 160% year on year for the June quarter and now total 128 million.
On the financial front, Mr Kaufer said TripAdvisor revenue grew 31% year on year to USD323 million but net income was flat at USD68 million.
Mr Kaufer said 73% of its revenue was generated by click-based advertising, compared with 74% in the second quarter last year.
