TripAdvisor may be struggling to increase profit due to higher costs and a stronger USD, but when it comes to attracting visitors, the review/meta-search website has no industry peer with a staggering 340m average monthly unique users for the first quarter, according to Google Analytics – a lift of 31% year on year.
Net income for the quarter was USD63m, down from USD68m in 2014, despite revenue growing 29% to USD363m.
“Excluding the impact of year-over-year changes in forex rates, revenue would have increased by 36% compared to the first quarter of 2014,” the company said.
Asia-Pacific recorded the lowest growth in revenue across all TripAdvisor’s regions at 20%.
Europe, Middle East and Africa grew fastest at 33%.
CEO Steve Kaufer said TripAdvisor now has “225m reviews and opinions”.
