The most underestimated tourism market according to new research are those tourists in disguise, the category otherwise known as VFR – visiting friends and relatives.
An online survey in July by Sydney-based MyTravelResearch.com of 800 Australian residents who visited friends or relatives showed that 45% do not couch surf – they want to stay in commercial accommodation.
“All around Australia there is massive potential for more and better programs to attract VFRs,” said Bronwyn White, co-founder of MyTravelResearch.com.
The company is running a workshop on the VFR market in Sydney tomorrow, July 30. Click here for details.
