Webjet is reviving its Lots of Hotels brand as the name of a new online hotel business based in Dubai. The Australian OTA is investing $1.5m in the venture, led by Mr Ossama Wagdi, which will feature a local hotel contracting team and also leverage content from Webjet’s existing aggregation platform.
Lots of Hotels was originally the name of an Australian affiliate marketing venture between Webjet and eBay in 2008 that failed to gain traction and faded from public view.
Webjet Managing Director John Guscic says the latest Lots of Hotels iteration is expected to generated A$20million in turnover during its first full year of operation.
The new “business to business international hotel aggregation platform” will initially focus on the Dubai, Turkey and Saudi Arabian markets.
