Where is Tony Davis? Almost three days after the airline he runs, Tiger Airways, was grounded until at least July 9 by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority, Davis, based at Tiger HQ in Singapore, has not been seen or heard. Nothing.
Tiger’s local Managing Director, Crawford Rix, has also been silent. Not a single press conference or release quoting senior management addressing the biggest crisis facing an Australian airline since the collapse of Ansett.
Just a statement on its website with all media queries directed to the CASA. Meanwhile, as this goes to press, Tiger continues taking bookings from July 9 as if there is nothing to worry about (update: advance ticket sales have now been suspended). It’s just too weird, like a little kid who thinks if he ignores an issue it will go away.
