Google can proceed with its US$700m purchase of ITA Software but the Department of Justice says that the internet giant must keep licencing ITA’S fare search technology on “reasonable and nondiscriminatory” terms to companies such as Kayak and Hotwire, which formed FairSearch.org to oppose the deal.  Other conditions include Google having to forward any complaints from travel competitors upset about their search rankings while erecting a firewall to prevent unauthorized use of competitively sensitive information and data gathered from ITA’s customers.
