Travel Technology founder Graeme Hunter has expressed his satisfaction in finally regaining control of the company from the liquidators of the failed Roamfree Group. “I’m very very satisfied to have the business back in my control,” he says. Hunter was one of two founding partners who sold 90% of the business for $15m to Roamfree in 2007.
Hunter retained 10% and continued to manage Tourism Technology through the rise and collapse of the Roamfree, run by Tony Smith on the Gold Goast. He wouldn’t be drawn on the buy-back amount but says “it’s safe to say that the travel market was a very different place” when he sold in 2007. The focus now is on further developing Tourism Technology’s primary product, Calypso, one of the world’s leading wholesale travel management systems.
