The global travel web domination of TripAdvisor continued through 2013 with the website reporting that it had 2 billion unique visitors through the year, up 50% over 2012. Other key metrics were also hot, although net income grew at a more sedate 7% as TripAdvisor reinvested in its business, CEO Steve Kaufer said.
Perhaps the biggest news from the results announcement is that TripAdvisor’s switch from pop-up ads to meta-search last June appears to be working. Revenue from click based advertising reached USD144.4 million revenue in the the fourth quarter, up 17% year on year. See results announcement.
